The organizers of ICTD2013 are extremely saddened by the news of Gary Marsden’s unexpected death from a suspected heart attack in late December 2013. Gary was co-General Chair for ICTD2013 and the success of the conference is a legacy of his commitment and enthusiasm to the field, and to bringing the conference to Africa for the first time. We miss him and will remain grateful for all he has done for the conference and the ICTD field. Some additional thoughts about Gary’s contributions are being gathered and shared at www.rememberinggarymarsden.blogspot.com.

Whilst the conference mourns the tragic loss of Madiba, we are encouraged by his insight and understanding of the issues around ICTs and Development.
